Frankie’s is named in honor of Cody and Kila’s late father, Frank Utzman who was a beloved member of the community. Frankie’s opened in 2013 with the simple goal of providing honest real food and to support our family through building a business that could support our community. Frankie’s is a proud supporter of local school programs, sports teams, Boy and Girls Club and many local family farms, which are the backbone of a small community like ours. Our food is fresh, seasonal, local and prepared with care by a talented skilled crew of local culinary experts. Frankie’s was built by family, for families and continues to build on the promise to support our community that truly has become our extended family. We love our regulars and can’t wait to meet more friends at Frankie’s.
Owner / Chef
Chef Cody Utzman grew up in Albany, and attended the culinary arts program at Linn-Benton Community College. After traveling the world, working and learning in different cooking environments, he settled in Brooklyn, New York in 2004 where he was owner of four popular restaurants. He received national acclaim as a two-time champion on the popular Food Network show “Chopped” and starred on BBC America’s Chef Race. Cody is a dedicated family man and tends to a 2 acre family farm when not in the kitchen. Returning in 2013 to his roots in Albany, Cody’s personal journey home is truly a full circle.
Kila brings a passion for food safety and excellent customer service. She is a graduate of Oregon State University’s College of Public Health and has worked in Willamette Valley restaurants for more than 20 years, working in the front of the house, serving, bartending and managing. Kila is also a part-time Yoga Instructor at WVPY, avid equestrian rider and mother and wife to a beautiful family.
Meet Our Team
Jason has 13+ years professional cooking experience. He joined Frankie’s in 2015. Originally from Trinidad, California, Jason’s first cooking job was at The Silver Lining Restaurant in northern California. Pork is his favorite protein, and he loves charcuterie (curing, smoking and sausage making). Away from work, he enjoys spending time with his family.
Front of House Manager
Emily has 19 years experience working in the food business in seven different states. She joined Frankie’s in 2015. Originally from Madison, Wisconsin, she graduated from Madison Technical College Culinary Program in 2001. Emily is passionate about promoting sustainable agriculture, and loves all food that is local and in season.
Guadalupe has worked in the restaurant business for more than 10 years. She joined Frankie’s in 2014. Originally from Michoacán, Mexico, she is a second-generation professional baker. Guadalupe’s favorite bakeries are Baker and Spice in Portland and Tartine in San Francisco. She recently spent a week studying at the San Francisco Baking Institute.
Frankies is honored to have received the Best Burger, Best Lunch, Best Dessert, and Best Chef awards in Willamette Living’s 2017 “Best of the Valley”
Deep family ties are at the heart of what makes Frankie’s Restaurant a part of the Albany community. Since opening in the North Albany Village shopping center in August 2013, Frankie’s has contributed to numerous causes in the Albany area.
We proudly support The Albany Boys and Girls Club, South and West Albany Sports programs, St. Mary’s Soup Kitchen, Albany Farmers Market and Albany Carousel Project to name a few.
